An Elegant Outdoor Space, Washington DC

The client wanted to make the backyard space more usable, more private and take into account an historic brick wall at the back of the property. Our design included retaining walls to create three different sitting areas that extended the interior spaces and terrace toward the back where steps to a cobble path lead to the historic wall. We developed a visual focal point by transforming the wall into a wall fountain with a small pool at the back.

Wood lattice walls were designed on the side and the back of the lot to create privacy and a sense of style. The stucco retaining walls and steps were topped with bluestone coping to finish them off and unify the look.
